A little birdie told me today that it wasn't totally the current economic conditions, like it had been implied to me, that is the reason why I was Laid-Off. The little birdie told me it was because of my Blog. I totally just got Dooce'd. (For those of you who don't know who "Dooce" is, she is a really great writer that got laid off from her job because of her Blog. Now she actually had made a really good living writing on her Blog.)
Here's the thing. It totally doesn't matter. I really don't care the "reason". I'm sure there are thousands of reasons that are going thru their head. And their reason is because I was too open with writing on my Blog that I was looking for other jobs. Well, I have been looking for other jobs. And I write it because it has to do with what is going on in my life.
So I just think it is funny.
I had some really great interview today. And I really look forward to seeing what comes out of them. For now, I have another interview tomorrow and then I am heading into Cruise and Travel to pick up those calls and get some money in.

Andrea! This sucks @$$...whatever happened to "freedom of speech" and whatnot. People suck. You did get Dooce'd and HOSED and all of those stinky words. Best wishes friend...hope you can find something wonderful.
First off...You got laid of or fired? Two different things. Sounds to me like you got fired.
Secondly...if you actually read dooce's blogs you would know that she warns specifically about this problem. Your blog is not a hidden journal that no one but you reads. It is a public document. There are things that should not be written about if you fear the consequence of it being read. You deserved to lose your job.

I did get laid off due to Economic Cutback. The things I wrote in my blog, I was also very upfront with the CEO & CFO of the company and told them my concerns & feelings about what was going on.
Being "Laid off Because of my Blog" was not a reason at all. It was a comment later made by one of the managers to another employee.
I am fully aware that Dooce does talk about being Fired Because of Her Blog. I think she is a wonderful writer and has done amazing things with her blog and become very well known because of it. And I am fully aware that a Blog is a public document. It is a wonderful way for my family to know what I am going through in my life and that is one of the biggest reasons I write in this. Not to please "Anonymous" people who can't even show who they are.
But Thank You very much for sharing, I really appreciate the time it took you to write this. Maybe you can read more of my blog next time to know what I am actually talking about. Thanks!
